Hugh Dowdy, Petaluma, senior
Dowdy jumped from being "just" one of the best distance runners in the Sonoma County League to being a major player on the North Coast Section scene in virtue of his fine 1,600m/800m double at the Viking Invite. Dowdy first ran a 4:16.32 in the 1,600m to move to 13th on the all-time Redwood Empire list, 4th on the yearly NCS list, and 24th in the state of California thus far this season. He then doubled back in the 800m, clocking 1:56.67 to move to 36th on the all-time Empire list and 5th on the yearly NCS list.
|
Alyssa Page, Montgomery, junior
To say Page dominated the 100m and 200m at her tri meet versus Rancho Cotate and Elsie Allen would be an understatemen. Page started the meet off with a win in the 100m, clocking 12.1, to win by a full second. In addition to the win margin, this puts her in a tie for 5th all-time in the Redwood Empire. If a 1 second win wasn't enough, she doubled back with a 3.1 second win in the 200m, clocking 25.2 to move to 9th on the all-time Redwood Empire list.

His discus mark of 153' is just shy of his own 2010 Empire Lead, but is still farther than anyone else in the Empire has thrown all season.
|

Thomas Kozel, Healdsburg, senior
Kozel lit up the track at the Stanford Invite, clocking 11.08 (w+1.8) to take 14th (and 2nd in his heat) at this high-caliber meet. That time puts him 5th on the wind-legal Empire All-Time list, and dangerously close to breaking the 11 second barrier.
|
Jacque Taylor, Casa Grande, senior
Taylor continued her dominant ways in the distance events by anchoring the Casa Grande DMR to a win at the Stanford Invite. Her ~4:54 clocking on he 1,600m leg was integral to the 12:08.05 total time, which is now the 2nd fastest time in Empire history.
