The first annual Heart and Sole Festival of Miles, presented by Blood Centers of the Pacific, is a community event to celebrate physical fitness as well as the sport of competitive running. In addition to our open section of by-age races, the Festival will end with a series of invitational races, culminating with our Heart and Sole Elite Miles.

We will have vendor booths and activities - led by the University of Sports - on the infield of the track, to really raise the energy of the event!

Quotes from the 2010 and 2011 Heart and Sole Elite Miles:

"It was a great experience to house an athlete (2010 2nd placer Mike Hendry) of that ability. ... It's not everyday you meet a pro athlete on the verge of breaking 4 minutes in the mile... that's quite a feat. It's pretty much the barrier to break as far as running goes. When you think about it, it's a very select group of people." -Daniel Hauptman, Maria Carrillo High School

"I had a blast running in Santa Rosa again. The atmosphere at meet was awesome. I loved the the tunnel we ran through at the start and how all the kids lined the track during the race. I was very impressed by the turn out." - Kim Conley, Montgomery HS '04, 2010 Women's Champion

"Brilliant!" - Tim Bayley, Great Britian, 2010 and 2011 Men's Champion

I certainly had a great time. Although I was a bit disappointed in my specific race, I was quickly remind who the event was really for when a small group of kids came up to me, after the mile, and challenged me to a race. I did not PR or even come close, but yet it did not seem to matter. (2011)

    - Francis Gadayan, Bay Area Track Club, 2010 third-placer/2011 fourth-placer

"It was one of the most amazing races I have ever seen in my life and being able to meet the runners was sooo inspiring... The whole crowd was in the track cheering and screaming for these runners to reach their goals. It was an incredible experience just to watch! I'm definately looking forward to it again this year." -Margie Maria, Santa Rosa Junior College
